I’ve been a spasmodic walker for most of my life but serious walking began as a boy scout wearing Tuf working boots and ex-army cape-cum-groundsheet. Later I joined rambling clubs. I’ve done several long distance walks including the Cleveland Way, the Pedders’ Way and Norfolk Coast Path and the Coast to Coast (but from Robin Hoods Bay to St Bees Head just to be difficult). In 2017, a little greyer and wiser, the walks have been shorter: The Esk Valley Walk and the Tabular Hills Walk, both in my native North Yorkshire.
